How Salp empowers European Brands using AI

    By Jop
How Salp empowers European Brands using AI

For small, medium and even large European Brands, managing product listings on a single-language, domestic marketplace is already time-consuming and cost-intensive. Now imagine you have to manage product listings across about 20 countries, with almost as many languages.

That is why Salp has developed a unique, hyper-modern AI-pipeline. By automating catalog ingestion, content generation, translation, and taxonomy classification, we enable brands to sell cross-border instantly and effortlessly. Beyond listings, our platform leverages vision-based AI to automatically generate descriptive alt-text for product media and uses smart diagnostics to support partners during onboarding.

The goal of our fully automated marketplace

Using the latest LLM models and automated workflows must have a good reason. If there isn't, you are implementing complexity without having a clear benefit for customers or partners.

At Salp, every automation or process that utilizes LLMs is done with a simple goal in mind: Empowering European Brands. What does this mean for partners and customers? It means that we do everything we can to lower barriers of entry for partners and eliminate the cost, time, and effort that partners typically face on traditional domestic or global marketplaces.

Salp integrates directly with the e-commerce systems of partners (such as Shopify, WooCommerce, Lightspeed, etc.). We then utilize the partner's raw product information to generate high-quality, non-hallucinated product content. Titles, descriptions, highlights, and SEO meta tags are all optimized to match the Salp marketplace language style and showcase the brand's products effectively.

The benefit for partners? Salp defaults all partners to using this automated product content pipeline. The consequence is that partners have zero costs and labor for creating and managing product content.

Managing multiple localized storefronts across 20+ countries usually requires a massive team of translators and endless back-and-forth reviews. Salp solves this by automatically translating and localizing product titles, descriptions, and metadata into 22 European languages.

Powered by advanced Gemini models, our translation pipeline goes beyond simple word-for-word translation. It adapts the tone, preserves industry-specific terminology, and optimizes localized SEO keywords for each individual European market. This ensures your brand feels native to customers in France, Germany, Poland, Sweden, and beyond—with zero manual translation overhead.

Accurate product classification is essential for discovery and search visibility. When products are imported, our AI pipeline automatically analyzes product descriptions, titles, and tags to classify them into the correct Salp marketplace category.

By automatically mapping each item to the appropriate category in our unified marketplace catalog based on product details, Salp eliminates manual catalog mapping headaches and ensures immediate catalog alignment.

    Zero-Hallucination & Zero-PII: Our AI Trust Guarantees

While generative AI offers unprecedented scale, it must be deployed with absolute precision. E-commerce requires factual accuracy—customers must receive exactly what they order, and partner data must remain secure. At Salp, we enforce two critical guardrails across our AI pipeline:

    1. How We Prevent AI Hallucinations

To ensure 100% factual accuracy, we never allow LLMs to write product content from scratch or make assumptions. Instead, we use a process called Strict Context Grounding. Our pipeline feeds verified, raw technical specifications (such as dimensions, weight, materials, and SKUs) extracted directly from the partner's e-commerce system (e.g., Shopify, WooCommerce) into the model's prompt. We configure the LLM with strict system instructions that forbid the generation of any facts not present in the source data. If a specification is missing, the model leaves it out rather than fabricating a detail. This guarantees that product listings are always truthful, precise, and compliant with EU consumer protection standards.

    2. Why We Don't Push Sensitive Data to LLMs

We believe in absolute data privacy and enforce strict context isolation. Salp never uses or uploads sensitive partner data, customer details, or transactional information to external LLM APIs.

    • No Customer Data / PII: Names, shipping addresses, emails, and payment information are completely isolated in our local, secured systems. They are never sent to external AI engines.
    • No Sensitive Partner Financials: Profit margins, supply costs, internal bank details, and proprietary partner business logic are strictly gated and never shared with LLMs.
    • Public Metadata Only: The only data sent to LLM APIs is public product telemetry—such as product titles, standard specs, and descriptions—solely for content enhancement and multilingual localization.
By keeping transaction data strictly segregated, we ensure your business operations and customer relationships remain fully protected.
